Myopia = Near-sightedness
Known as short-sightedness, myopia is a condition of the eye where light focuses “in front of,” instead of “on,“ the retina. This causes distant objects to be blurry while close objects appear normal.
Degenerative
A type of severe progressive nearsightedness is characterized by changes in the fundus of the eye, posterior staphyloma, and deficient corrected acuity. Refractive error is greater than -8.00 diopters. Pathologic myopia increases the risk of retinal detachment by affecting the curvature of the crystalline lens.
