Bifocal contact lens are lenses that incorporate different prescriptions to address the focusing issues associated with the lack of ability to accommodate.
Conditions:
Presbyopia is the vision problem that everyone encounters between the ages of 40 and 45. During this time, the eyes lose the ability to focus on small text like a newspaper, menu, or book.
Aphakia is the absence of the lens of the eye due to surgical removal (cataract surgery), a perforating wound or ulcer, or congenital anomaly. It causes a loss of accommodation.
Pseudophakia means “fake lens.” It is a term used after an artificial lens has been implanted in the eye to replace a natural lens. This is done during cataract surgery. The implanted lens is called an intraocular lens (IOL).
Bifocals can help one read but this does not have to be accomplished through bifocal eyeglasses. There are also bifocal contacts to be considered.
